Your Responsibilities
Based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the Employee Benefits Director of Client Management will provide strategic and tactical consulting and account management support to an assigned book of Employee Benefits (EB) clients; build and maintain strong client and carrier relationships; and effectively lead teams of EB department Associates. This leader will also promote total quality awareness by understanding and supporting EB initiatives for the Series, and drive Associate performance to achieve and maintain Lockton quality standards.
- Provide leadership in the overall management for growth and development of the Wisconsin EB market.
- Ensure the marketing and servicing requirements of all Employee Benefits accounts are met.
- Develop excellent rapport with Lockton Producers enhancing the “team” approach for sales and service delivery.
- Effectively manage multiple teams of Account Executives, Senior Account Managers, Account Managers, and Account Administrators to achieve the service requirements of assigned book of business.
- Manage performance to maximize growth and persistency. Allocate resources within assigned service teams to meet client needs.
- Consult and serve as the primary service liaison between Lockton and clients. Assist Producers in sales opportunities with prospective clients.
- Act as the primary technical advisor to associates on all group insurance issues.
- Interface effectively and confidently with senior management of clients and/or prospects.
- Meet with clients monthly, quarterly, or as necessary.
- Direct activities and programs for the training and development of Associates.
- Oversee renewals and marketing efforts of clients; act as advisor in carrier selection and/or financial negotiations as needed. Oversee and approve all vendor, plan design, and financial recommendations in concert with Account Executives, Account Managers, and Producers.
- Review and sign-off on all agreements and/or documents (fee agreements, etc.).
- Coordinate and direct the efforts of all unit members to fulfill service responsibilities, objectives, and contribute to the overall effectiveness of assigned units.
- Lead and participate in the recruitment of EB Associates and assists in the interviewing and hiring process.
- Coordinate the orientation of new unit Associates and determine additional areas of training on an on-going basis for assigned units.
- Manage Associates and complete effective performance evaluations for EB Associates, including salary increases and bonus recommendations.
- Actively participate as a member of the Management Committee for the EB Practice.
- Lead in the development and planning of the EB budget and business plan.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- 10+ years’ experience in a management role within the Employee Benefits consulting business required.
- Bachelor's degree in a business-related program or equivalent education and/or experience in the insurance industry.
- Current Wisconsin Life/Health insurance license or the ability to obtain immediately required.
- Firm working knowledge of group benefits in multiple product lines (i.e., medical, dental, life, AD&D, disability).
- Advanced knowledge of different financial arrangements and products available to clients (i.e., full insured, minimum premium, ASO).
- Excellent relationships with insurance/carrier markets, or ability to develop immediately.
- Strong working knowledge of federal and state legislation and legal issues related to the insurance industry.
- Ability to compile, analyze, and interpret complex financial information and data to facilitate decision making.
- Exemplary tactful negotiation and persuasion skills with ability to mentor and develop unit Associates in these areas.
- Experience with direction and monitoring activities and programs for training, development, and career growth of direct reports.
- Superior customer service skills, along with the ability to develop sound client relationships with multiple clients. Demonstrated ability to instill confidence and comfort with clients.
- Full proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to interact with Associates at all levels of responsibility, along with the ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy.
