Your Responsibilities
Lockton’s Northeast Region’s revenue continues to grow by double digits, and we are seeking qualified actuaries to help support our recent and future growth. Job Description
- Performs, with the assistance of other actuarial team members and core service team members, all financial & actuarial workstreams for clients. Financial & actuarial workstreams include, but not limited to:
- Financial modeling for employer group health plans including pricing and rate setting, contribution and plan design modeling, benchmarking, and risk management/stop loss strategies
- Ongoing claims tracking and monitoring
- Preparation of IBNR reserve calculations
- Assistance with funding analyses, demographic analyses, strategic financials, experience reporting, and any other ad hoc financial and/or actuarial modeling needs
- Supports new business pursuits
- Assists with internal initiatives, such as tool development and internal process improvement
- Potential for future people management responsibilities (but not necessary)
Qualifications
Job Requirements
- Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries; we offer a competitive study program for consultants seeking their Fellowship
- Ideally, but not necessarily, 5+ years of experience with the following workstreams:
- Annual forecasting of health care claims costs
- Calculation of incurred but not reported (IBNR) reserves
- Financial evaluation of carrier RFPs on behalf of employers
- Able to work and communicate effectively as part of a team
- Comfort with a client facing role
- Excellent quantitative, problem-solving, interpersonal, and delegation skills
- Passionate about concise, effective communication of complex calculations as much as the calculations themselves. It is critical to be able to communicate across all mediums (verbal, written, virtual, etc.)
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and hit internal and external deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Knowledge of SQL, PowerBI is an asset, but not a requirement
- Willing to travel occasionally for internal and external meetings
- Legally able to work in the United States
