Your Responsibilities
• Advise and consult with clients about the claim process and optimal claims management set up and procedures, considering internal client resources and preferences, TPA resources, law firms, other providers, and Lockton claims consultants
• Advise and consult with clients and internal Lockton constituents on coverage issues and strategy concerning casualty claims, referring to specific policy terms and conditions that apply, with an eye toward maximizing client protection and recovery
• Advocate on behalf of clients for insurance coverage, including writing responses to coverage positions
• Liaise between clients and insurance carriers and TPAs, and challenge adjusters as warranted, to advocate for the best outcome for the client in accordance with Lockton service standards and client wishes
• Directly manage large or complex claims, as appropriate or as requested by the Lockton Claims Department leader
• Review liability policies and specific wording for coverage gaps and potential issues; consult with clients and internal constituents re: same
• Collaborate with Producers and client service teams in the sales process by providing pertinent claims service marketing input, preparing responses to broker RFP’s and attending prospect meetings and presentations
• Demonstrate extensive knowledge of the practices and procedures of TPAs and the skill to develop effective long-term relationships that meet client expectations and needs as required
• Foster a strategic alliance between Lockton and the insurance carriers and TPAs such that Lockton and its clients enjoy a preferred relationship with these vendors
• Cultivate strong working relationships with stakeholders, including clients, casualty practice leaders, Producers, client service teams, TPAs and carriers, including contractual review and negotiations, advocating for the best outcome for clients
• Research current trends in law that pertain to casualty insurance claims and our clients; draft whitepapers and other educational presentations concerning casualty claims and claim advocacy best practices
• Prepare written correspondence, analyses, reports and memos as needed
• Travel to client, carrier and/or TPA locations as needed
• Make a positive contribution to customer satisfaction and constantly strive to improve service to the customer
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Law Degree required. Bachelor’s degree in a business-related program or equivalent education and/or experience required
• Minimum of 15 years of insurance experience supporting clients in liability claims and coverage issues at the senior consulting level
• Substantial understanding of the overall commercial insurance needs of clients and the ability to provide strategic input regarding all aspects of loss-sensitive risk programs
• Executive level presence to interact with top management of clients, prospects and other business leaders, representing Lockton in the highest professional manner with strong knowledge relating to the evaluation, interpretation and communication of insurance claims and coverage
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to interact with clients and associates at all levels of responsibility, building strong internal and external client relationships, find solutions for, deserve respect from, and motivate others
• Proven leadership and problem-solving skills, including resolving unusual and complex internal and external issues
• Strong presentation skills including preparation and execution
• Consistent proven ability to organize and manage time in order to meet time-sensitive deadlines
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Must have the ability to travel by automobile and aircraft, including internationally, and be away from home more than one day and night as well as work outside of normal business hours as needed
• Ability to complete continuing education requirements as needed
• Ability to comply with all company policies and procedures, proactively protecting confidentiality of client and company information
• Legally able to work in the United States
