Your Responsibilities
SUMMARY:
Lockton Affinity, located in Overland Park, Kansas, is currently hiring for a person to join the Underwriting team as an Underwriting Specialist. Our Underwriting team serves as an insurance industry advocate with a focus on improving the customer experience by understanding their risk and properly insuring their exposures. This position will be responsible for technical rating, endorsing, and issuance of insurance policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accurately rates all new business, renewals and endorsements for assigned programs.
- Policy issuance according to state requirements.
- Work within pre-established time frames and underwriting authority to meet service standards.
- Refer all business outside of pricing and underwriting authority.
- Keep personal and assigned library manuals up-to-date and within established guidelines.
- Makes positive contribution to customer’s satisfaction and constantly strives to improve service to the customer.
- Communicates in a positive manner to contribute to a cohesive, pleasant work environment.
- Protects the confidentiality of information leaned by performing the duties of the position.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent education and/or experience with online and manual rating.
- Comprehensive understanding and application of concepts, practices, and procedures related to insurance, typically acquired through 1-3 years commercial Property and Casualty insurance experience.
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgement in accordance with regulatory and carrier requirements on moderately complex items.
- Proficiency using Microsoft products.
- Solid aptitude for mathematical proficiency.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Organizational and time management skills to meet time sensitive deadlines.
