Your Responsibilities
The Alternative Risk Solutions Consultant will be responsible for leading projects regarding alternative risk and risk financing solutions in order for Lockton’s clients and prospects to make informed decisions. A high performing Associate in this role will possess strong technical ability in alternative risk solutions, captive consulting, collateral solutions and financial/accounting/tax matters. This Associate should have technical knowledge to lead strategy and development in each of these areas and be viewed as an expert in the industry by insurance companies, clients and prospects.
The Alternative Risk Solutions Consultant Will Have
• A command of commercial insurance program structures
• Knowledge of risk finance structures including captive insurance structures and other alternative risk programs with the ability to develop pros and cons of solutions and outline the related financial and accounting implications
• Comprehensive understanding of actuarial analysis and actuarial methods and be able to read, interpret and explain the analysis
• Knowledge of and constructive relationships with key individuals in the insurance industry
• Command of Microsoft Excel with ability to customize models and apply financial and accounting principles as needed
• The ability to prepare diagrams, reports and presentations to outline key analysis conclusions
• Effective communication skills and be able to convey financial and accounting topics and analysis with a wide variety of audiences and lead projects to conclusion
• Autonomous identification of key tasks for a project without a formulaic model or plan
• Confidence in supporting both existing clients and new business projects and be comfortable working with imperfect information when required
• Position can be anywhere in the US/remote
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics or Accounting, MBA or Masters in Accounting
• At least 10 years of experience in the insurance industry with at least five in an alternative risk related role
• Experience in working with captives and a sound knowledge of captive principles and the ability to evaluate the viability and economics of captive insurance structures
• Up to date knowledge of and exposure to other alternative risk structures, including but not limited to, structured solutions and parametric triggered policies
• Strong project management skills and ability to set reasonable expectations and meet deadlines
• Superior attention to detail and ability to perform technical review of analysis prepared by others
• Handle multiple projects while reviewing needs for future projects
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word)
• Strong technical financial and accounting knowledge
• Intellectual curiosity and ability to quickly understand the business model of various companies
• Strong written and oral communication ability
• Works effectively individually and in a team-oriented group setting
• Assumes ownership of individual projects and develops viable decision tools
