About Lockton Northeast 

For the Northeast Series, you’ll find our people in the metropolitan areas spanning Washington DC, Philadelphia, New York City, Hartford, Norwalk, Boston, and Portland ME.  With our unmatched work ethic, and an ability to go above and beyond to make a difference for our clients, the Northeast continues to experience double-digit (organic!) growth.

Position Overview 

The Client Manager is at the forefront of our Lockton Northeast Client Engagement strategy.  They are directly responsible for the day-to-day servicing needs of Lockton Northeast Clients under the general guidance of the Unit Manager, Account Executive and/or Senior Client Manager.  Overall responsibilities include support of the marketing/placement/servicing of select lines of insurance and execution of day-to-day administrative and service needs.  The Associate must be familiar with Lockton Northeast resources, policies & procedures and ensure overall compliance with the aforementioned.  The Client Manager will be a participant in the Lockton Northeast Career Foundations Program or Career Advancement Program which is designed to provide technical and practical training supporting continued career progression.  A high performing and successful Client Manager will support the Unit Manager, Account Executive and/or Senior Client Manager to ensure transactional excellence and provide great customer service. 

Core Responsibilities

  • Supports Unit Manager, Account Executive or Senior Client Manager on Lockton Northeast clients
  • Supports the Unit Manager, Account Executive or Senior Client Manager in the service delivery and renewal process on a designated book of business including but not limited to marketing, placement and overall service.
  • Responds to Client’s inquiries, maintains documentation of communications, existing issues, and issue resolutions.  Engages senior level resources to support resolution where needed
  • Provides Client service aligned with Lockton Northeast processes and protocols and our overall Client Engagement strategy 
  • Supports implementation of new lines of coverage by setting up account, collecting needed documentation, and reviewing program details with Client and Insurer
  • Gathers and compiles exposure information from the Client
  • Works with the Unit Manager, Account Executive or Senior Client Manager to request and collect quotes (new and renewal) from carriers
  • Audits quotes, binders, and endorsements and makes requests for changes as needed
  • Processes audits and creates audit analysis for Client
  • Participates in client meetings; takes responsibility for presenting material as directed by Unit Manager, Account Executive or Senior Client Manager
  • Receives policy, then updates and completes policy check to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Works with the Unit Manager, Account Executive or Senior Client Manager to update specifications, application, and summary information to reflect changes during the year
  • Builds coverage specifications under direction of the Unit Manager, Account Executive or Senior Client Manager
  • Supports new business opportunities and generates materials for Client presentations and meetings
  • Creates and sends compliance communications as needed
  • Supports analytics through the gathering of benchmarking and industry data
  • Works with accounting and admin teams to issue and process Invoices, Certificates of Insurance and Auto ID Cards
  • Conducts basic contract review
  • Resolves accounting issues. Escalates issues when needed.
  • Performs other responsibilities and duties as needed 

 

Qualification Icon

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related program preferred or equivalent education and/or experience required
  • A minimum of three years of commercial Property and Casualty insurance experience and/or insurance broking/consulting/agency experience required
  • Ability to efficiently organize work and manage time in order to meet deadlines
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to comply with all company policies and procedures, proactively protecting confidentiality of client and company information 
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Legally able to work in the United States

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing

  • The initiative to actively participate in the Career Foundations Program or Career Advancement Program and to pursue technical excellence through professional designations, industry workshops etc. 
  • An ability to develop underwriter relationships with key insurers
  • The desire to mentor and develop junior Associates, including Interns, Analysts and Senior Analysts

Tammy Marcum was honored with Lockton’s Community Impact Award for her dedication to uplifting her community through her work with the Kansas City Dream Center. The Dream Center, a global network of outreach organizations, first captured Tammy’s heart during a visit to its Los Angeles location in 2017. Witnessing the center's efforts in neighborhoods like Compton, Watts, and Skid Row, she felt called to bring that same spirit of service to Kansas City. "We were so impacted by the experience that we wanted to duplicate this in our own city," she shared, and in 2018, the Kansas City Dream Center was born. Since its inception, the Kansas City Dream Center has provided crucial support through programs like the Mobile Food Outreach, Street Outreach, Adopt A Block, and Kids Jam. Tammy has played a key role in leading these initiatives, helping to build meaningful connections with those in need. "It has been exciting to see the positive impact on our community as we work hard to build lasting relationships with the people that we serve," she said. Receiving the Community Impact Award left Tammy deeply honored. “I was shocked and humbled that I would be chosen to receive this award. We have so many community-oriented Associates at Lockton, and I am thankful that Lockton recognizes its Associates by donating such a generous financial gift.” The $25,000 donation from the Lockton family to the Kansas City Dream Center will allow the organization to expand its services, particularly in providing food and shelter for those in need. Looking to the future, Tammy is excited to continue supporting the Dream Center as it grows. “We are expanding our services and finding better ways to provide safe shelter for those who find themselves with no place to go,” she noted. In Tammy’s 16 years with Lockton, the company’s emphasis on service has been a perfect match for her personal values. “I’ve always been service-minded, so working for a company that prioritizes giving back to the community is important to me,” she explained. Bruce Cohen has always had a passion for community service, but in 2018, this commitment deepened with his involvement in Holy Trinity’s Social Justice Committee. His journey began after a life-changing trip to the southern U.S. border, where he witnessed the human suffering caused by the immigration crisis. After sponsoring a courageous Nicaraguan refugee, Bruce was inspired to join Holy Trinity’s Social Justice Committee. At the parish’s request two years later, he took on his first returning citizen mentee who was re-entering society after 32 years. The Social Justice Committee focuses on long-term solutions for poverty, homelessness, restorative justice, and other pressing social issues for the communities and individuals they serve. Bruce’s dedication did not go unnoticed. Each year, the Lockton family honors Associates around the world who go above and beyond to make their community a better place through volunteering and philanthropy with the Community Impact Award. Bruce was awarded a $25,000 donation from the Lockton family to support Holy Trinity’s mission. "I was genuinely surprised when I learned I won this award—especially with so many other Associates committed to important community work," Bruce says. "This award has validated the relevance of Holy Trinity Social Justice Committee’s impact, as well as the core values of Lockton." Lockton’s culture has played a crucial role in Bruce’s ability to contribute meaningfully to his community. "Lockton has created an environment where it feels natural for us to volunteer and show up for those in need in a more intentional and committed way than I thought possible," he reflects. "The commitment shown by my fellow Associates to community service is inspirational and humbling." Looking ahead, Bruce is focused on pushing Holy Trinity’s impact even further. The Community Impact Award, funded by the Lockton family, honors Associates who have gone above and beyond to make their community a better place through volunteering and philanthropy. Kristin Beauchamp was awarded a $25,000 donation to present to Advancing Sight Network – an organization that supported her after the loss of her son, Patrick. Read more about Kristin’s inspiring story from her own perspective. --- Sitting at the State of the Companies meeting this year, as Jessica began describing the recipient of the Community Impact Award, she said something along the lines of, “After losing her son…” I immediately felt empathetic and wondered who it was. She continued and mentioned organ donation, and I was shocked, thinking to myself, “Oh wow…I need to meet this person because we have so much in common…” and then she said my name. That was quite a shock for me! In April 2021, I received the call no parent is ever prepared for: “I’m so sorry, but your son had an accident…” I knew I lived two hours away from him, so my mind began racing, figuring out how fast I could get to whichever hospital he was in. I asked the officer, “Ok…tell me where he is…I can be in Birmingham in two hours if I leave right now…” He paused and then said, “Ma’am…again, I am so sorry, but he did not survive the accident.” With those words, my life was forever changed. I lost my oldest son, Patrick, at 24 years old. The next few hours were a blur as I had to wake his brothers, make calls, and drive to Birmingham. Patrick was in the military and had just returned a few months prior from a nearly year-long deployment to Mogadishu, Somalia. I worried the entire time while he was gone, but once he was back in the States, I thought all was right with the world and that I could finally breathe again. I received a call from a representative with Advancing Sight Network, who explained that Patrick was an organ donor and that they wanted to talk to me about retrieving his corneas. The representative was very compassionate and took the time to answer all my questions. Patrick was extremely giving in life—to his family, his friends, his community, and his country. This was a final opportunity for him to give once more. A few months after Patrick’s funeral, I was contacted by Advancing Sight and offered the chance to visit their facility, take a tour, and see all the amazing work they are doing to help find a cure for blinding eye diseases. I was also given the privilege of writing a letter to the two individuals whose sight was restored because of Patrick’s donation. When I finished my tour of the facility and met several of the people behind the scenes, I was asked if I would like to meet Sarah, the technician who spent Patrick’s last moments with him and performed his cornea retrieval. To say it was an emotional meeting is an understatement! This began a long involvement with Advancing Sight, full of events, fundraising, and community activities to promote organ donation. On the first anniversary of Patrick’s death, we were able to raise $2,000 to help fund a clinic in Kenya. We participated in a 5K run to encourage people to become donors. I have spoken to various groups, raising awareness and answering questions about what it’s like being a donor family. I have made amazing connections not only with the staff at Advancing Sight but also with other donor families who share the same unique perspective I do. This award will do two primary things: purchase two cell culture incubators that are used to grow and maintain eye cells, and create the Patrick Braden Higgins Memorial Wall, where donors will be honored, and their families will be able to recognize their gifts. I have been at Lockton for almost two years and have been constantly amazed by the generosity of both the leadership and the Associates. It is sometimes rare to find companies that give back so much and are so supportive of their Associates’ desires to do the same. I look forward to a successful career with Lockton and continued support of Advancing Sight’s mission to help cure blinding eye diseases. Losing Patrick was a tragedy, but the greater tragedy would be if nothing good came from the loss. I am so appreciative of the Community Impact Award and knowing the assistance it will provide in purchasing this much-needed equipment to continue their research and, hopefully, one day finding the cures we need.
