Your Responsibilities

POSITION OBJECTIVE
In collaboration with a client service team, prepare and deliver comprehensive financial reports for client health benefit plans. Analyze and leverage data to help clients manage health benefit plans with optimal financial efficiency. 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Prepare routine financial reports for self-funded clients; review financial reports with clients.
2. Calculate loss projections, calculate and negotiate renewals, and set funding rates for self-funded clients.
3. Develop or use industry formulas to create basic and complex models to analyze, illustrate, or project loss trends; complete feasibility studies, financial models, and pricing models; evaluate benefits utilization and claims data to assist clients in developing cost management and health risk management strategies.
4. Prepare spreadsheets, graphs, charts, diagrams, and other illustrative tools for presentations and reports.
5. Use financial modeler and other tools to predict financial impact of health reform on client plans.
6. Calculate IBNR reserve estimates for self-funded clients.
7. Participate with other department associates in program presentations to clients and prospects.
8. Understand and evaluate retiree medical and Medicare Part D liabilities.
9. Assist client team as required in evaluating stop loss RFP responses; negotiate contract terms and pricing with selected vendors.
10. Analyze and interpret client data warehouse information; identify cost or case management opportunities, and present recommendations to clients.
11. Prepare custom reports and analysis for specific client needs.
12. Maintain benchmarking data and leverage use of benchmarks across clients.
13. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on underwriting and financial reporting, as well as stop loss contracts and vendors.
14. Leverage internal systems knowledge and utilization within the department and among clients.
15. Create new financial reporting templates; update computer databases to improve standard models used in analysis.
16. Calculate the allocation of insurance program costs to clients’ individual operating units.
17. Participate in the negotiation of insurance program terms and costs.
18. Keep informed of insurance industry developments and products available in the marketplace.
19. Make a positive contribution to customer satisfaction and constantly strive to improve service to the customer.
20. Communicate in a positive manner to contribute to a cohesive, pleasant work environment.
21. Protect the confidentiality of information learned by performing the duties of the position.
22. Comply with Lockton procedures and policies.
23. Responsible for regular and punctual attendance.
24. Attend company, department, and staff meetings as required.
25. Attend position related seminars/classes as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor’s degree in a business-related program or equivalent education and/or experience, with an emphasis in math, statistics, or finance required. 
2. Must have previous benefits insurance brokerage/consulting experience, and a minimum of five years’ industry experience.
2. Broad understanding of benefits underwriting guidelines gained through experience as an underwriter or other applicable experience, as well as familiarity with all lines of coverage.
3. Ability to compile, analyze, present, and interpret complex financial and statistical information to facilitate decision making and to understand and discuss the contents of corporate balance sheets and financial statements.
4. Willingness and ability to expand knowledge and effectiveness in the insurance industry by successful completion of extended insurance and/or other appropriate education, beyond the education requirements of licensing.
 
5. Personal presence to interface with senior leadership in client and prospect organizations, representing Lockton in the highest professional manner.
6. Organizational and time management skills to prioritize workloads to meet time sensitive deadlines required. Must be results-oriented with the ability to change priorities as needed.
7. Must have above-average verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to interact with clients and colleagues at all levels of responsibility, along with the ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy.
8. Advanced skill in using computer application software for financial modeling, statistical analysis, spreadsheet calculations, word processing, and other database analyses.

Celebrating Black Hi...
As we close out Black History Month 2025, we take a moment to reflect on the vibrant celebrations and meaningful engagements that highlighted the rich history and invaluable contributions of the Black community that we all share, both at Lockton and beyond. This month has been a testament to our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and a celebration of the diverse perspectives that our Associates and Producers bring to our business every day. In the Midwest, we embraced the spirit of Black History Month with engaging trivia sessions that not only educated but also rewarded participants with prizes from Black-owned businesses. Our happy hour events provided a platform to recognize the outstanding contributions of our Black Associate Resource Group. Our West region hosted a variety of events that brought our Associates together in celebration and learning. Denver organized both a breakfast and happy hour event, complete with raffle prizes supporting local Black-owned businesses. San Francisco's visit to the Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD) and Black History Month trivia/happy hour offered a blend of cultural enrichment and fun. In Seattle, we enjoyed a soul food lunch while learning about the remarkable inventions from Black Americans, highlighting the ingenuity and creativity that has shaped our world. The Northeast and Southeast led a benefits education event, empowering our Associates to better understand and utilize their Lockton benefits. This initiative underscored our commitment to supporting the wellbeing and professional growth of our team members. The Southeast hosted a happy hour where they highlighted Black-owned wineries and distilleries, including Kumusha, Viarae, House of Brown, Chaos Theory, Seven Daughters, Teremana Tequila, Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey, Mocktail Club and Theopolis Vineyards. Associates had a great time learning about each company and trying new beverages. In Texas, Houston enjoyed a delightful lunch at Lucille's and a tour of the Houston Museum of African American Culture, immersing themselves in the rich cultural heritage of the Black community. Meanwhile, Dallas and Plano hosted trivia and lunch events, creating opportunities for learning and connection. Black History Month 2025 has been a powerful reminder of the strength that comes from embracing diversity and fostering an inclusive environment. As we move forward, we remain committed to celebrating and uplifting the voices and contributions of the Black community, not just during Black History Month but every month of the year.

Now, as Senior Social Media Manager, she leads a team dedicated to making Lockton stand out as a trusted leader in the insurance industry. Inspired by her family’s history of small business ownership, she founded Mazzeffe’s Screen Printing and Embroidery and later brought on a few family members to handle production. While they focus on bringing designs to life, Leanna works to grow the business and attract new clients. This allows her to build something that reflects her creativity in different ways! Matt Chastain has called Lockton home since he began his career as an entry-level Benefits Analyst 10 years ago. He is now a Unit Manager in the St. Louis office. Matt attributes his growth over the last 10 years to strong mentors and leadership. “Leadership within our Series has always conveyed confidence, even as I developed mine. I’ve viewed my mistakes as learning opportunities and have become progressively more effective with each speedbump.”  Reflecting on his career, Matt highlights how Lockton’s culture fosters personal and professional development. He credits mentors like Jane Schmittgens, Tom Mitchell, and Sean Donlin for guiding him through pivotal moments and offering constructive feedback. “Lockton’s relationship culture creates an environment where mentors organically develop around us. It’s a very supportive environment for building a rewarding career,” he shared.  Matt has embraced the freedom to shape his team and its identity in his current role as Unit Manager. His vision is to create a supportive micro-environment that thrives on collaboration and drives new business. “That freedom to build our own brand continues to create excitement within the team, as well as opportunity and a tight-knit culture,” Matt explained.  Matt uses the words entrepreneurial and relationship-centric to describe Lockton’s culture. From relationships with our clients, to relationships with colleagues, all are important to our culture. “At Lockton I’ve felt emboldened to think outside the box in developing new strategies and efficiencies.”  A pivotal moment in Matt’s career came 2 years ago when he moved into the Account Executive role. “I immediately felt inspired to think boldly and creatively to produce positive outcomes for my clients. I enjoyed creating strong relationships with my clients and earning their trust.”  Over the years, Matt’s journey at Lockton has been shaped by the company’s unique environment, a blend of entrepreneurial spirit and relationship-driven values.  His experience is a testament to Lockton's opportunities for growth and success.
