Your Responsibilities
Do you enjoy analyzing leave of absence documentation, completing documentation audits & creating presentation material? Would you enjoy working with a large number of clients that vary in size and industry? Do you enjoy being in a collaborative, professional environment? Then we have the position for you!
Due to our success and increased business opportunities, we are looking for a Leave Compliance Analyst to assist with our compliance screening process. This position is a subject matter expert regarding federal, state and local leave of absence laws, including FMLA, ADA, USERRA, ERISA, state paid family and medical leave programs, state and local paid sick leave laws, etc. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a high level of professionalism; possess the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and the flexibility to easily adapt to changing priorities. The individual in this role will collaborate with a team of professionals who help clients navigating through the array of leave laws. Experience as a paralegal working in this area is a plus.
We prefer to hire an individual in the Dallas Plano, or Kansas City area, but location is not critical.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist Lockton’s Integrated Absence Solutions team in conducting compliance screenings.
• Coordinate and attend meetings or calls with internal parties regarding the screening process.
• Collect supporting documents from multiple locations.
• Provide prompt, practical compliance and technical support to the process of reviewing leave policies to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local leave laws and regulations.
• Document policy compliance audit findings in Excel.
• Create client presentations in PowerPoint.
• Communicate findings and recommendations clearly and succinctly in layman’s terms and in a professional manner.
• Build strong relationships with internal associates, external partners and clients of the firm.
• Actively participate in client meetings on demand, to gather information, establish needs, clarify expectations, develop strategy and obtain feedback.
• Prepare and present information on Zoom calls.
• Keep abreast of developments in leave law on a federal, state and local level.
• Escalate issues to the proper management resource as appropriate.
• Maintain established performance goals and help ensure the organization is meeting performance targets and complying with service level agreements.
• Provide critical thinking regarding absence management processes.
• Identify trends and make recommendations for continuous process improvements to management.
• Assist with client projects as needed.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED
• A bachelor’s degree is highly desired and/or a paralegal or legal assistant certification.
• Four or more years of extensive knowledge of the FMLA, ADA and USERRA, as well as state and local leave laws including state/local paid sick leave laws, state paid disability and paid family medical leave programs is required.
• Strong analytical mind, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Responsibilities include legal research and analysis, collaborating with compliance counsel and staying up-to-date on leave law regulations.
• Apply critical thinking to interpret complex information in policies, identify issues and develop effective solutions.
• Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet sensitive deadlines and work independently.
• Effective verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills to interact with Associates at all levels of responsibility is a must.
• This position requires support of clients of the firm, and of internal associates who work under demanding timelines, and often with limited knowledge of leave compliance issues. A pleasant, service-oriented attitude, and ability to communicate complex concepts in a practical, common-sense manner is critical.
• Ability to handle confidential information and exercise good judgment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Legal right to work in the United States.
