Making an impact: Janessa Dolphin

Janessa Dolphin

Janessa Dolphin, a passionate advocate and leader at Into Freedom, has been awarded Lockton’s Community Impact Award for her outstanding contributions to the community.

Through her work with Into Freedom, Janessa has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to supporting survivors of human trafficking during critical transitions.

"I chose Into Freedom for their comprehensive and transformative approach to supporting human trafficking survivors," Janessa explains. "Over the past two years, my experience with Into Freedom has been profoundly fulfilling." Janessa’s commitment to combating human trafficking began 20 years ago with an international human rights organization in Pattaya, Thailand, where she engaged in relentless advocacy, daring rescue missions, and comprehensive rehabilitation efforts. After returning to Missouri, which ranks fourth in the nation for trafficking, she joined Into Freedom to help reverse these distressing statistics.

Into Freedom fosters survivor restoration programs, provides professional job training, and initiates trafficking prevention initiatives. Its efforts extend to assisting orphans and at-risk teens, ensuring they receive essential resources and life skills crucial for their future success.

"When I learned I was a recipient of the Community Impact Award, I felt deeply honored and overwhelmed with gratitude," Janessa shares. "This award means increased visibility for our cause, additional resources for survivors, and a stronger platform to advocate for change."

Lockton’s Community Impact Award includes a $25,000 donation to a charity of the recipient's choice. Winning this award is a testament to Janessa’s impactful leadership and dedication. Her success is rooted in qualities such as empathy, resilience, dedication, and a strong sense of justice.  She is excited to share that with the award they’ve already started to expand their collaboration with law enforcement, particularly at transit points such as the MCI airport.

"This award affirms that our collective efforts are truly making a difference," Janessa reflects. "It fuels my passion to continue advocating for freedom, justice, and empowerment for survivors."

Janessa credits Lockton’s supportive culture for enabling her to balance her professional responsibilities with community service effectively. "Lockton's caring culture provides a flexible environment that values community involvement," she emphasizes. "The Lockton culture aligns closely with my personal values, nurturing my growth.”

Janessa’s story serves as an inspiration and a call to action for others to join in the fight against human trafficking and support those in need within our communities.
