Jen Bryant has one goal in her philanthropy work — helping kids get healthy.

“I want kids to be outside getting dirty, having fun, eating junk food, doing things kids are supposed to do,” Bryant said. “They shouldn’t have to worry about staying alive.”

Bryant is heavily involved in two charity organizations in the Kansas City area: The Big Slick and Live Like Luke. And with the help of Lockton, Bryant gets to present The Big Slick with a check for $25,000.

Big Slick is an event held yearly in Kansas City that raises money for Children’s Mercy Hospital in hopes of eradicating pediatric cancer. Bryant first got involved with the event while working at a company where Big Slick hosted a bocce and bowling event, but requested to stay involved when her employment changed. She now works with The Family Committee and has taken on a more significant role supporting the silent auction.

Because of her work in the community, Bryant received the Community Impact Award for the Center in Kansas City. The annual award recognizes an Associate in each region with a $25,000 donation on behalf of the Lockton family and shareholders to a charity of the Associate’s choice as a thank you from Lockton.

Recipients like Bryant are making tangible impacts and truly living our values every day. Making an impact on surrounding communities isn’t just important to our Associates, it’s one of our core values as a company. Because of this, Lockton gives Associates days to volunteer each year so they can make a difference as Bryant does. Whether it’s a passion in their career or outside of work, we strive to support Associates in all their endeavors.

Bryant also supports Live Like Luke, a foundation started by her college friend who lost his son in a tragic accident 10 years ago. They host a golf tournament every year to maintain the foundation in Luke’s memory. Bryant uses her volunteering days each year to support this event.

“Lockton not only gives us the time to pursue our passions, but they also give us the means,” Bryant said. “That’s not something you find at every company. The support that this organization gives to its Associates to pursue their career, whatever that might be, and the passions in their life is unmatched.”
