With help from Lockton, Associate Vice President, Account Executive Jessica Hill is helping five minority students attend college, purchasing two mammograms for women in need, and giving Christmas gifts to local nursing home residents.

“[This award] means I have the opportunity to plant a seed in the community and someone else's life so that they can get a college education,” Hill said.

Hill has been a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority for 25 years and is currently a member of the Mu Kappa Omega Graduate chapter in Missouri City, Texas. In 1997, members of the chapter established Julia F. Thompson Inc., a nonprofit that strives to improve the quality of life of individuals through leadership, mentoring, education, health and wellness, and economic development in the communities in which they live.

As a member of leadership for her chapter for the past eight years, Hill has done a variety of work with the organization in the community, from hosting “Jeans for Teens” events to donate clothing to children in foster care to organizing job fairs for high school students.

Because of her incredible philanthropic work, Hill received Lockton’s Community Impact Award for the Texas region. The award recognizes an Associate in each region with a $25,000 donation on behalf of the Lockton family and shareholders to a charity of the Associate’s choice as a thank you from Lockton.

This donation will have more of an impact on these students than simply a scholarship. Julia F. Thompson Inc. checks in with students who receive the scholarships each semester to support their educational journeys.

“This is more than just a check, it really does change lives,” Hill said. “I’ve seen the lives that have changed and I have heard the testimonies, so I expect nothing less from these scholarships.”

As an Associate, Hill exemplifies Lockton’s caring culture and focus on community. We want our people to get involved in the community surrounding our offices and make a positive impact. Hill has seen the importance of celebrating our people during her time at Lockton.

“I think it is exciting that you have the ability to not only say what you’re doing in your personal time but to be celebrated at work too,” Hill said. “It rounds out the whole story of who you are."

Hill has received multiple awards for her work in the community, including the Community Service Award from the State of Texas for her outstanding leadership as President of Alpha Kappa Alpha. Dec. 10, 2022 was “Jessica Hill Day” in Missouri City, Texas to celebrate Hill’s dedicated service and outstanding achievements.

As a winner of the Community Impact Award, Hill will continue making a difference in her community with the presentation of this check from the Lockton family.

“This is one of those things that you don’t always see how you changed someone’s life, but you know you are going to do it,” Hill said. “Thank you, Lockton, for giving me that vehicle to help someone else and to pay it forward.”
