Your Responsibilities

The purpose of this role is to execute on Global Production activities for multinational accounts/prospects within the People Solutions Enterprise Practice - create demand, originate, shape and close appropriate Global People Solutions opportunities and support to maintain and expand client relationships in terms of quality and value.  
 
The impact of this role is to significantly contribute to the Lockton People Solutions growth agenda through sales to multinational organisations. The role requires self-contribution and impact through other senior business development and production stakeholders.  
 
Success in the role will depend on the ability to sell large-scale, long-term annuity business, projects and specialist services to multinational prospects and clients – either through competitive GBM-style sales processes or by local country or other client relationships and projects which expand over time.  
 
Key tasks and duties are summarised below and are focused on experienced sales professionals who can identify opportunities to add value for multinational clients and across the Lockton People Solutions business. This role has a focus on effectively selling and transitioning to client delivery teams, managing workload effectively, being a role model and someone who develops the wider team to deliver excellent client service in a way that adds value and is commercially viable.  

 

SALES LEADERSHIP 

  • Provide input to, and execute on, sales processes and practices of the People Solutions Enterprise Production team 
  • Contribute to the go-to-market strategy to position Lockton as a People Solutions partner of choice for multinationals. 
  • Execute sales strategy in line with Lockton’s market segmentation and target markets. 
  • Identify and focus on key target  clients within identified markets. 
  • Maintaining and advancing a global pipeline monitored and measured within the CRM system.  
  • Adhering to, and providing input to, Lockton’s Go/No Go validation. 
  • Engage with marketing and other commercially orientated central support functions. 
  • Growth planning with Head of Sales.  
  • Input and support in global delivery model development (including globally consistent Value Proposition, Scope/Pricing, Contracting, Lockton Global Partner management, Talent Mobility, Marketing and Client Forums).  
  • Proactively liaise on Global prospecting and sales activity with regional Lockton Global offices, partners, and producers. 

 MAKING EFFECTIVE CONNECTIONS 

  • Develop relationships with the Lockton Global Partner offices, peers and other business service groups (IT, Office Services, Information Processing, Accounting, local offices, etc.) to support our ability to effectively sell and deliver.  
  • Proactively liaise with regional delivery teams and local Lockton Global offices and partners to understand environments and sales themes when needed to increase our chance of sale.

TEAM LEADERSHIP 

  • Design and implement sustainable regional sales structure. 
  • Propose, budget and recruit for proportionate resources required to service client portfolio. 
  • Global monitoring, and central reporting, of all regional new business pursuits.  
  • Recruiting and setting KPIs of all sales resources in line with Lockton’s revenue targets. 
  • Measurement of sales performance of all dedicated sales personnel versus KPIs.  
  • Display role model behaviours to the client and client team. 
  • Mentor, develop and train the team. 
  • Implement appropriate people management infrastructure to ensure sales colleagues understand roles and responsibilities, have relevant and measurable objectives, and are rewarded or remediated for against individual performance. 

CLIENT FOCUS/MANAGEMENT 

  • Lead larger/more complex account sales, build & foster client relationships and manage the sales cycle to prospective clients including the client relationship across the range of global benefit propositions and services.  
  • Ensure full understanding of client needs and Lockton capabilities in order to agree and execute on well-articulated Statements of Work against relevant and proportionate client fee structures.  
  • Actively manage own prospect portfolio through the sales cycle. 
  • Work with delivery client team members in planning client proposals against global benefit issues. 
  • Contribute and execute on client value proposition. 

 

SALES DELIVERY 

  • Leverage own existing, and new, contacts in the market to create demand for Lockton global People Solutions services 
  • Maintain and demonstrate an active pipeline to meet the agreed new business targets.  
  • Define the winning strategy and tactics for new business wins, leading a multi-faceted team to execute on that outcome.  
  • Manage the relationship with overall decision-making responsibility on prospects and existing clients demonstrating strategic leadership to maintain and develop prospect and client relationships and inform servicing requirements.  Consider and sell relevant client services in a consistent and efficient fashion. 
  • Collect and leverage key client characteristics and data to understand the needs, services, and commercial viability of individual and collective clients. 
  • Set client expectations on delivery that are realistic and in line with agreed Statement of Work in the sales process. 
  • Adhere to best practices developed with the global sales team and implement/embed processes where appropriate. 
  • Accountable for the own adherence with any Lockton processes to ensure compliance and risk management of delivery e.g. data protection process, maintaining audit trails.

I spent the first 17 years of my career with a global, publicly traded competitor firm. Profitability was the primary business focus; I felt like the firm was so consumed with profitability and delivering results to shareholders that it lost sight of the mission to deliver consultative service to our clients. Plus, it was so bureaucratic—any decision, no matter how big or small, required multiple layers of approval. For example, we couldn’t staff quickly. As a result, delivering quality service to our clients suffered. It made my job of leading the client relationship nearly impossible. Even still, after 17 years with one firm, the idea of making a move was scary. The more time I spent getting to know Lockton—both as a firm and the people—the more I admired the incredible talent and their passion for delivering a client-centric service model. At Lockton, we have the best, brightest, and hardest-working Associates in the industry, without question. It’s a fast-paced, work-hard, play-hard environment. Our people are passionate. They relentlessly deliver value to our clients. They care and are invested in our clients' satisfaction. I joined Lockton four years ago this June, and the transition has been incredibly energizing for my career. What were primarily supporting roles have shifted over the last decade or so, and I see more female representation in sales and production roles as well as in positions of organizational leadership. Today, there are many more women in positions of influence and decision-making than when I first entered the business. While there's still work to be done, I’m encouraged by the direction we’re heading—more women are stepping into executive roles, and companies are recognizing the value of diverse perspectives in driving innovation and client relationships. Diane McDaniel, Associate Director - Healthcare and Social Services Account Executive, has been making waves in the insurance industry since she joined the Phoenix office in 2021. Recently, she was honored with the prestigious Risk & Insurance Power Broker award, a testament to her dedication and expertise. Her passion for healthcare drove Diane's journey to Lockton. After taking four years to raise her daughters, she returned to the workforce with a renewed sense of purpose. Despite working with talented individuals at another broker, she felt the absence of a dedicated healthcare vertical. Healthcare had always been her passion, and she knew she needed to be in an environment that shared her enthusiasm. "My whole family is in healthcare," said Diane. "My sister is a nurse, my mom works in compliance for a hospital system, and my grandmas and aunts have all been in healthcare. I come from a service-type family, but I've always been business-minded. My service to other people is my business mind supporting people who serve on those front lines." Diane's desire to help healthcare systems manage risk and focus on patient care led her to Lockton. She soon discovered that it was the perfect fit for her. "I always heard Lockton had an ultra-competitive culture," Diane notes. "This initially made me nervous, but when I started working here, I quickly found my people. I had struggled for 20 years at different brokers because I am competitive and want to win. I always felt like people weren't at the same speed – but I quickly found out Lockton Associates were my people." When Diane joined Lockton, she expressed her desire to be an account executive and learn the book and clients she was working with. Shortly after, the team lead left, and Diane, being the senior member, stepped into the role. "I enjoy being in this position, she said. "I enjoy the blend of managerial and technical responsibilities. With seven direct reports and a team of 17, I can work on diverse healthcare projects. Lockton has also given me great opportunities in a supportive environment." Lockton's culture focuses on collaboration and winning together. Diane appreciates the team's willingness to share information and support each other without concerns about billing or hours. This collaborative spirit fosters a sense of unity and progress, ensuring that challenges are met with solutions rather than blame. "The Producer-service team relationship is completely different from anywhere I've worked. Yes, we are Producer-centric – as they bring in money – but they allow the right team at the table to create success for all our clients," she said. "Here, we communicate constantly, and my Producers allow me to lead that negotiation and relationship once a client comes through the door." However, what truly sets Lockton apart for Diane is the culture of continuous learning and growth. She raised her hand for opportunities, and Lockton responded by allowing her to lead significant projects and travel internationally. The organization's focus on understanding and aligning individual strengths with roles has been instrumental in her success. As the Managing Director - Private Equity for Professional and Executive Risk, she leads with vision and expertise. Recently honored as a 2025 Risk & Insurance Power Broker in the M&A category, Lindsay's insights and leadership are shaping the future. Discover what drives her passion for Lockton in her own words. --- What initially attracted you to Lockton? Why do you stay? When I was an underwriter, I worked closely with the Lockton San Francisco team. I admired their creativity and drive to find solutions for the client. I was attracted to Lockton because of the image these San Francisco brokers modeled for me. I stayed because those brokers became more than my colleagues; they are my mentors, my biggest supporters, and my friends. I’ve learned that this feeling is much bigger than San Francisco. It’s a philosophy that is found throughout the organization. How has your role in Lockton allowed you to develop your leadership skills and impact your team? Lockton has always supported me and given me the autonomy to break the mold. I am challenged to question the status quo, encouraged to constantly improve our products for clients, and create efficiencies within our service teams. This freedom has allowed me to grow both as an individual and a professional, without the confinement of what “should be.” What sets Lockton apart from other organizations? Other organizations treat people as commodities or numbers—a means to an end. At Lockton, I have never been a number. We don’t sign in with a five-digit code; we sign in with our names. We know all our coworkers at Lockton are here because we are capable, smart, and great at what we do. That is the baseline. When people speak, others listen to them as the experts they are. It seems so simple, but it changes everything. How would you describe Lockton’s culture to someone unfamiliar with it? Lockton is known for its entrepreneurial spirit. Lockton’s brokers work as a team to deliver exceptional results to our clients. My mentors have modeled the appropriate behavior and demand that we protect this culture and mindset with our all. This environment is our responsibility to maintain. With this culture, we all become leaders in our own right and our commitment to this impacts those that follow. My ideas are welcomed and even more importantly, when mistakes are made, I am not met with blame, but instead with assistance to take corrective action. People roll up their sleeves and get in the trenches with me. We grow and take our blows as a team. What does winning the Risk & Insurance Power Broker award mean to you? I think winning this award is twofold. On one hand, it’s a milestone that my younger self would be so proud of. That younger me, who set out to hone her craft, was committed to continuous growth, found mentors to guide and protect her, and wanted to be the best. This award has granted me the space to look back at all the diligence and effort that got me here. On the other hand, it’s proof that I am surrounded by incredibly smart and talented people who have been willing to share their knowledge with me and help me grow. This award is a testament to the amazing people in my life, both at work and personally. They encouraged me when I was down, cheered me on when I was up, and picked up the slack when I needed it most. I am grateful and humbled.
