Your Responsibilities
The US Director of Emerging Risks & Industries leads a team dedicated to advancing Lockton’s expertise in emerging risk and solutions with a focus on developing timely information, relevant research, and effective strategies. This role partners closely with Lockton’s Product Line and Series leadership teams.
Essential responsibilities and priorities:
1. Proactively research, identify and prioritize emerging risk topics that maximize client value and support Associate/Producer needs.
a. Collaborates with global counterparts.
2. Communicate, collaborate and educate on emerging risk topics; manage Knowledge Library, develop internal communication strategy and host webinars/ seminars to support Associate/Producer growth.
3. Develop external thought leadership/whitepapers to enhance Lockton’s reputation as innovative and forward-thinking.
4. Support potential product innovation through partnership with Risk Practice Leaders (RPL). Secondary owner of product development led by RPL.
5. Establish and chair internal emerging risk committee –
a. Develop charter, gain buy-in with Series leadership, and establish measurable KPI’s;
b. Recruit and manage ongoing membership, with emphasis on cross-product collaboration;
c. Develop and manage a framework for prioritization;
d. Establish a life cycle for emerging risks;
e. Analyze potential impact on portfolio – by industry sector and/or line of coverage;
f. Report out to Risk Practice Leaders.
6. Support Associates/Producers on client and prospect engagement, including select industry events and client symposiums.
Success will be defined by:
• Producer / Associate experience: Delivers education and proactive thought
leadership with actionable intelligence (answers the question: “Interesting. So
what?”)
• Brand elevation. Enhances Lockton’s external image and reputation; Emerging
Risk is viewed as a differentiator.
• Enhanced collaboration, awareness and connectivity across internal
stakeholders: P&C, LFS and Cyber RPLs, Industry Vertical teams, Government
Affairs, global Emerging Risk colleagues.
• Engagement across Series. This includes fostering a high-functioning emerging
risk committee comprised of a cross-section of Series talent.
• Organized approach to examination of the life cycle of a specific risk: emerging,
emerged & insurable, emerged & uninsurable.
• Establishes measurability metrics to ensure ongoing delivery of value.
Qualifications
• Proven commercial insurance and risk management experience to successfully
connect potential risks to impact on P&C, LFS and Cyber lines of business.
• Influential leader who inspires curiosity, creativity, problem-solving and
innovative thinking.
• Forward-looking, entrepreneurial self-starter; comfortable with ambiguity.
• Applies analytic mindset to shape strategy using portfolio intelligence.
• Strong interpersonal skills. Builds robust internal / external network. Identifies
strategic partners, asks relevant questions, and exhibits a high level of diplomacy
and tact.
• Active listener with strong verbal, and written communication skills.
• Organized, skilled project manager and operator.
