Life at Lockton Article Header_Simone Ramos

October 27, 2025

Making an impact: Si...
At a pivotal moment in her career, Simone Ramos woman found herself searching not just for growth, but for meaning. That search led her to Sou Segura, a nonprofit association that would become more than just a professional network: it became a sanctuary of support, learning, and inspiration. Since its founding, Simone was there, driven by a belief in the transformative power of education and female leadership. “Throughout my career, I knocked on many doors and heard many ‘no’s,” said Simone. “Sou Segura, through its lectures and culture of encouragement, helped me change my perspective and turn each obstacle into learning." Today, Simone serves as the volunteer director for institutional programs for Sou Segura. Her initiatives are focused on mentorship, which has already helped over 240 women, the Sou Segura Column, which amplifies the voices of women in the industry, and the “Juntos por Elas” (Together for Them) program, which brings together CEOs and industry leaders for monthly meetings to promote reflections on equity, inclusion, and empathy. Additionally, she helped conceptualize the organization’s book, Fala Mulher, a collection of the most read and inspiring articles from the Sou Segura Column. The book became a hit in the Brazilian insurance industry. In recognition of her unwavering commitment to empowering women in the insurance market, Simone was named a 2025 Lockton Cares Global Community Impact Award recipient. The Community Impact Awards honor Lockton Associates across the globe who go above and beyond to improve their communities through volunteering and philanthropy. Simone received a USD $50,000 donation to a charity of her choice, funded directly by the Lockton family. Naturally, she chose Sou Segura. “I was completely surprised during our annual Lockton Brazil Leaders’ Meeting in September. I was deeply moved and speechless — it was a moment when a real film played in my mind: my journey, the challenges, and the joy of being able to support other women. Knowing that a social project led by Brazilian women was recognized globally by the Lockton family touched me in a very special way,” she said. The donation, which is the largest in Sou Segura history, will be used to fund over 30 MBA scholarships for women in the insurance sector. Her own academic journey, which began after the age of 40 and led to a Master’s degree, international certifications, and now a PhD in Naval Engineering, is a testament to what’s possible when determination meets opportunity. “I know there are many women with great potential who face financial and family barriers, often balancing multiple roles. Education transformed my life and career, and that is why this award holds such deep emotional value,” she said. Looking ahead, she envisions a permanent scholarship fund and a network of Latin American women executives where each woman becomes an agent of transformation in her own community. With Lockton’s caring culture, she feels empowered to align her passions with her profession. “I would like to dedicate this recognition to the women who paved the way before us — and to those who will come after. This award is not just a personal achievement but a celebration of what is possible when purpose, courage, and care walk together. May it inspire other women to believe that it is possible to grow, care, and transform — all at the same time.”

Making an impact: Pa...
Paige Hayes knows the life-changing power of hearing. Her daughter, MaKenzie, was born deaf and wore hearing aids for most of her life. Thanks to the support of the Dallas Hearing Foundation and its donors, MaKenzie received a cochlear implant—an experience that transformed both of their lives. “Being involved with the Dallas Hearing Foundation has deeply enriched my life,” said Paige. “Seeing firsthand how the organization changes lives — including my own daughter’s — has given me a profound sense of gratitude and perspective. It’s reminded me daily of the power of compassion, technology, and community working together to restore something as fundamental as hearing.” Paige's continued dedication earned her a 2025 Lockton Cares Community Impact Award. The Community Impact Awards honor Lockton Associates across the globe who go above and beyond to improve their communities through volunteering and philanthropy. Each recipient can direct a $25,000 donation to a charity of their choice, funded directly by the Lockton family. “I was completely overwhelmed when I found out I was a recipient,” she shared. “It was a mix of shock, excitement, and deep gratitude knowing how meaningful it would be to use this blessing to make a real difference.” The $25,000 donation will fund life-changing surgeries, support post-implant rehabilitation, and empower families with resources and hope. “It wasn’t just winning the money; it was a full circle moment," she said. “We now have the opportunity to pay it forward and help another family receive the gift of hearing.” Today, Paige continues to share MaKenzie’s success story to inspire other families and raise awareness about the importance of early hearing intervention. She’s committed to helping others access the same support that changed her daughter’s life. “Choosing the Dallas Hearing Foundation isn’t just charitable—it’s symbolic,” Paige added. “It’s a way to give back to an organization that represents resilience, and opportunity—all the things MaKenzie embodies.” “Lockton has given me incredible opportunities but being able to use this award to make a difference for the Dallas Hearing Foundation truly touches my heart. This award isn’t just about generosity or success – it is about hope, community, and gratitude. It reminds me that when we share our blessings, we amplify their impact far beyond ourselves.”

Making an impact: Da...
Daisy Roldan, Senior Account Manager, knows firsthand the impact cancer can have on a community. “My best friend's mother was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and passed away a year later,” Daisy shared. “I witnessed my friend’s emotional journey through her mother’s diagnosis and treatment—the highs, the lows, and ultimately, the heartbreak of losing her. That experience moved me profoundly and inspired me to take action.” Daisy wanted to support organizations that are advancing treatments and cures, while also helping patients and families navigate their cancer journeys. She began raising awareness and supporting organizations like the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) through fundraising, advocacy, and volunteer work. Her continued dedication earned her a regional 2025 Lockton Cares Community Impact Award. The Community Impact Awards honor Lockton Associates across the globe who go above and beyond to improve their communities through volunteering and philanthropy. Each recipient can direct a $25,000 donation to a charity of their choice, funded directly by the Lockton family. “I was incredibly honored and humbled,” said Daisy. “It’s a privilege to be recognized, especially when it means being able to give back to a cause that means so much to me.” The $25,000 donation will fund critical research, patient support services, and advocacy initiatives – contributing directly to improving treatment options and outcomes for those battling blood cancers. “This award is a reflection of the collective efforts of everyone who has supported LLS alongside me,” she said. “It’s a testament to what we can achieve when we come together for a cause greater than ourselves.” With the support of Lockton leadership and her colleagues, Daisy plans on expanding her personal impact with LLS to continue making a difference. In fact, Daisy recently participated in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Visionaries of the Year campaign, which raised over $250,000 to fund research, provide education and support, and drive policy change. “I hope to expand my involvement by increasing fundraising efforts and helping LLS reach broader audiences. I’d also love to collaborate on initiatives that bring more awareness to early detection and treatment options. Lockton’s culture of compassion and community has been instrumental. The support from Lockton has empowered me to pursue my passions and make a meaningful impact outside of work.”

Lockton Associates s...
Written by Lee Short, Content Specialist After Hurricanes Helene and Milton devastated communities in Florida, Tennessee, and North Carolina, Lockton Associates quickly rallied to provide aid. Thankfully, all Associates affected by the storms were safe and accounted for. However, many experienced property damage, displacement, and extensive power outages. Through the Lockton Cares Fund, the Lockton family committed $150,000 to support critical relief efforts via Operation Airdrop, the United Way Hurricane Helene Fund, and World Central Kitchen.   Lockton Associates were invited to support colleagues directly impacted by the hurricanes and the response was extraordinary. Within hours, we were flooded with donations. Through the generosity of Lockton Associates, more than $21,000 was raised to support those directly impacted by the hurricanes. The Lockton family matched the amount, bringing total relief funds to $42,000. Every financial hardship grant request from affected Associates was honored, ensuring meaningful support reached those who needed it most. Several Associates across the Southeast also stood out in their effort. Based in the Charlotte office, Senior Account Manager Angela Powers was surrounded by tragedy in Clyde, North Carolina. With entire neighborhoods turned into rivers, homes being destroyed, and widespread power outages, Powers and her husband were determined to help rebuild their community. “We started looking for how we could help and what we could do because it was so immense,” Powers said. “It’s still immense.” Powers highlighted her gratitude for the immediate support from her Lockton colleagues and the Lockton Cares initiative. Hundreds of Associates contributed donations and time to hurricane relief efforts, making it possible for Powers and her husband to coordinate and distribute supplies to families. "As soon as we could get the word out that we were okay to everybody at Lockton, they immediately said, ‘Don’t worry about anything here; go help your community,’” Powers said. “I thought that was really telling of the Lockton Cares philosophy." Similarly, in the Tampa office, Senior Account Manager Kathy Harper and her husband quickly traveled to severely impacted communities. They journeyed to Unicoi, Tennessee, with a truckload of winter clothes, blankets, baby items, over-the-counter medicine, and other supplies. Harper and her husband volunteered at a donation center set up at a local campground and assisted families from the hard-hit Bumpus Cove community. “Many of these families lost everything they owned,” Harper said. Harper also emphasized the work the team at the donation center did, such as helping recover valuables from homes before demolition and providing families with clothes, blankets, and camping equipment. With support from both her community and Lockton Cares, Harper and her husband were able to step in and provide hands-on relief to those in need. “I feel fortunate to work for a company that gives back to communities,” Harper said. “Lockton allowed me to use my volunteer day to assist with the ongoing efforts.” Although both made a significant impact, Powers and Harper found that much work remains to be done to recover. Since donation centers across the Southeast have been overstocked with donated supplies, Powers proposed organizing long-term Lockton community service efforts to rebuild homes and infrastructure in the spring. Following these natural disasters, Lockton Associates have set an example of resilience and dedication to those in need, embodying the Lockton value of “We Live Service.” Through efforts in donations, volunteering, and spreading the word, Lockton has made a significant difference.
