Your Responsibilities
The Strategic Communications Benefits Writer will wear many hats: writer, editor, proofreader and strategist. This role's top priority is to partner with Lockton’s communications consultants and clients to develop and define key messages and write and edit benefits communication materials.
The ideal candidate has a background in employee benefits communications with significant experience in writing or editing content for health and welfare, marketing, talent recruitment and annual enrollment communication materials. We develop benefit guides, websites, videos, flyers, emails and more. If you’re an ambitious, creative and detail-oriented wordsmith, you may be a great fit.
• Serve as primary benefits communication proofreader, writer and/or editor on client projects, with direction from Senior Content Writer/Editor
• Write, provide content direction for and edit various communications, including websites, newsletters, enrollment guides, emails, posters and postcards
• Work closely with internal team members to develop content ideas, create outlines and produce error-free content that adheres to the client’s style guidelines
• Document and report tasks in our project management tool
• Maintain job files and ensure all final files are posted to project management platforms
• Develop strategies to address internal communication needs and objectives
• Simultaneously manage multiple projects with short deadlines
• Effectively communicate with clients and internal creative teams
• Possess organizational and time-management skills for meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Manage client needs and expectations
Qualifications
• Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in communications, English or Journalism
• Minimum of eight years writing experience; HR and benefits communications and marketing preferred
• Experience in producing copy for digital, print and broadcast channels
• Exceptional planning, project management and coordination skills
• Exceptional verbal communication skills, including abilities in presentation, facilitation and client-facing communications
• Exceptional written communication skills, including the ability to write for various outlets (internal, external, web, emails, newsletters, letters, social, etc.)
• Fluency in AP style desired
• A background in HR and benefits in addition to consulting-related experience preferred but not required
• Conversant in mainstream technologies (e.g., Microsoft Office, Workfront, Adobe, Apple and supporting software)
