Lockton Dunning Benefits is seeking an Assistant Vice President to serve as a senior health and welfare benefits consultant and subject matter expert. Under the general guidance of the Team Lead, this role will advise complex clients on benefit strategy, plan performance, design, funding, renewals, compliance and vendor management. The ideal candidate brings strong financial acumen, consultative judgment, leadership presence and the ability to mentor others while adapting to shifting client and business priorities.
Responsibilities
•Consult proactively with large and complex clients on health and welfare plan strategy, including plan design, pricing, benchmarking, renewals, funding arrangements and vendor performance.
•Manage a portion of a complex book of business with local and national clients across multiple funding methods.
•Serve as a trusted business advisor by developing strong relationships with client contacts and delivering thoughtful guidance, clear communication and high-quality execution.
•Act as a health and welfare subject matter expert, partnering with internal specialists and legal counsel on complex strategy and compliance topics, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, and Form 5500 filings.
•Lead client meetings, provide strategic guidance and present financial performance insights independently or in partnership with the Team Lead.
•Develop and deliver client presentations, communications, reports and recommendations tailored to each client’s benefit plans and business objectives.
•Execute renewal, marketing and Request for Proposal (RFP) processes by coordinating vendor responses, analyzing results, preparing client recommendations and negotiating plan terms or design changes.
•Support new business efforts by collaborating with Producers in prospect meetings, serving as the technical benefits expert and leading the RFP process as needed.
•Lead implementation and communication processes, including communication strategy, collateral materials, vendor implementation and open enrollment meetings.
•Identify and resolve client service issues, vendor concerns and complex claim-related matters; recommend process improvements that enhance service quality and client retention.
•Collaborate with the Team Lead to develop project plans, assign resources, monitor deliverables and ensure client project goals are met.
•Mentor and train team members to strengthen technical knowledge, client service standards and overall team effectiveness.
•Maintain ongoing client relationships by participating in client meetings, on-site visits and relationship-building events.

Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or equivalent professional experience.
•Minimum of seven years of insurance industry experience, with a focus on employee health and welfare benefits.
•Active insurance license, or ability to become licensed.
•Strong working knowledge of welfare benefits across multiple product lines, including medical, dental, life, accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) and disability.
•Understanding risk, insurance, funding options and medical underwriting calculations.
•Experience with different financial arrangements and products, including fully insured, self-funded, minimum premium and administrative services only (ASO) arrangements.
•Ability to analyze and manipulate large spreadsheets, census data, disruption analyses, geographic access reports and benchmarking data.
•Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
•Excellent organizational, communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
•Demonstrated ability to build client relationships and deliver exceptional customer service.
