Role Overview
The Loss Control Consultant serves as a strategic advisor to Lockton clients, consulting on business exposures that impact the total cost of risk across diverse industries. The Lockton Risk Control Department is committed to being a seamless, value-driven risk control practice that partners with clients to improve operations, enhance financial results, and optimize their overall risk financing strategy—not simply reducing risk, but maximizing the value and effectiveness of their insurance programs.
Our consultants leverage industry expertise, advanced analytics, and data-driven insights to align with client strategic goals and create lasting partnerships. We combine quantitative data analytics, qualitative assessment, and AI-powered risk evaluation tools to provide comprehensive consulting that reduces operational risks, protects human capital, and minimizes total cost of risk while positioning clients for long-term resilience.
Role Responsibilities
• Strategic Partnership & Risk Assessment — Partner with clients to identify and evaluate business exposures affecting total cost of risk; serve as a trusted advisor in optimizing risk financing strategies and insurance program value.
• Proactive Risk Evaluation — Leverage AI-powered tools and technology platforms to conduct proactive risk evaluations, identify emerging exposures, and provide data-driven insights that anticipate risks before they become losses.
• Predictive Analytics & Loss Intelligence — Apply predictive modeling and advanced analytics to identify loss trends, forecast future exposures, and deliver forward-looking risk intelligence that enables clients to make informed strategic decisions.
• Consulting & Guidance — Provide expert guidance and support to clients on reducing identified risks; develop and present customized plans and materials for successful implementation of risk control programs.
• Training & Education — Develop and deliver training on critical safety measures, loss prevention strategies, and regulatory compliance; educate clients on loss control regulations and emerging industry standards.
• Data-Driven Analysis — Utilize qualitative and quantitative data to assist clients in lowering risks and costs; conduct comprehensive claims analysis, monitor loss history trends, and provide technical insights on complex client accounts.
• Loss Prevention & Risk Analysis — Provide clients and prospects with loss prevention recommendations and risk analysis designed to positively impact loss ratios and premium levels; make evidence-based recommendations for remedying hazardous conditions and potential losses.
• Hazard Identification & Compliance — Survey client locations, equipment, operations, and safety practices; identify potential hazards and underwriting risks; ensure recommendations align with applicable codes and standards (OSHA, NFPA, EPA, NIOSH).
• Communication & Reporting — Communicate findings, safety information, and hazard prevention guidance to clients and internal teams; distribute loss control materials and maintain clear documentation of assessments and recommendations.
• Business Development Support — Assist Producers in identifying and retaining business through the creation and presentation of value-added loss control services; demonstrate ROI and competitive advantage of Lockton's risk control offerings.
• Industry Vertical Collaboration — Work within industry-specific verticals to build deep, trusted relationships with internal account teams, including Producers and Account Managers; deliver value-added loss control services tailored to the unique exposures and risk profiles of each vertical; collaborate with account teams to provide insights and recommendations that help clients reduce their overall cost of risk and strengthen the effectiveness of their insurance programs.
• Regulatory Compliance & Awareness — Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations; stay current on changes to laws and regulations pertaining to loss control; interpret and evaluate insurance carrier recommendations.
• Additional Responsibilities — Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and company objectives.
Qualifications
Qualifications
• Experience: Typically requires 5+ years of professional experience in loss control, risk management, or related field
• Education & Certifications: ARM, ASP, or CSP designations preferred; knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and NIOSH standards required
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint; data analytics experience and spreadsheet modeling required; comfort with AI-powered analytics tools and emerging risk management technology platforms
• Industry Knowledge: Understanding of property, fleet safety, workers' compensation, and liability fields; awareness of industry trends, governmental regulations, and industry-specific vertical risk profiles
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present findings clearly to diverse audiences
• Organizational Skills: Ability to efficiently organize work, manage multiple clients simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Travel & Availability: Ability to travel at least 50% of the time (car and air travel); flexibility to attend company, department, and team meetings, including industry training sessions; ability to work outside normal business hours as needed
• Technical Proficiency: Ability to work on a computer for extended periods; comfort with emerging technology platforms and AI-powered analytics tools
• Legal Status: Legally authorized to work in the United States
• Compliance: Ability to comply with all company policies and procedures; commitment to protecting confidentiality of client and company information
