About the Position
Lockton Affinity, in Overland Park, KS is seeking a motivated and experienced Team Leader to join our Group Benefits practice. In this role, you will be responsible for leading our service team, setting strategic goals, and ensuring operational excellence. You will collaborate with various internal departments and leaders to address process, operational, marketing, and production needs. As a Benefits expert, you will also work with Producers to support new business development initiatives.

Your Responsibilities
Essential Duties:
- Overall responsibility for the team’s performance including growth and persistency.
- Lead and mentor the Group Benefits team to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
- Develop and implement strategies that enhance team performance and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with internal departments to streamline processes and improve service delivery.
- Act as subject matter expert on Employee Group Benefits, providing guidance and support for new business opportunities.
- Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to inform strategic planning.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team.
- Determine staffing needs for the team and represent team’s needs/issues to Leadership.
- Actively participate in the interviewing and recruiting process for new hires.
- Primary role for continued training and development resource for team members.
- In addition to leadership responsibilities, continue to serve as Account Executive/Consultant on select key accounts.
- Provide strategic planning and consulting advice to clients and prospects, including the production of RFPs, coordination of vendor responses, analysis and comparison of RFP responses, and preparation of a client report with recommendations.
- Provides KPI reporting to manager and leadership.
- Performs other responsibilities and duties as needed.
Other duties:
- Assist Producer in sales opportunities to prospective clients.
- Determine when Producer involvement is necessary in problem resolution.
- Assist Producers in establishing and meeting target revenue goals for existing and new business.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of annual budget and business plans.
- Attendance of internal meetings/educational programs.
Qualifications
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in business related field.
- Typically, more than 7 years of Client services experience is required, with at least 2 years in a leadership role preferred.
- Strong understanding of Group Benefits insurance products, regulations and market trends.
- Management experience preferred.
- Excellent organization, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build relationships at all levels.
- Excellent computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheet expertise.
- Expert knowledge of Employee Benefits in multiple product lines (i.e. medical, dental, life, AD&D, disability) with a clear understanding of risk and insurance.
- Complete working knowledge of differing financial arrangements and products available to clients (i.e. fully insured, minimum premium, ASO).
- Must be knowledgeable on compliance requirements and federal legislation.
