About Lockton Northeast

Position Overview

The Client Manager is at the forefront of our Lockton Northeast Client Engagement strategy.  They are directly responsible for the day-to-day servicing needs of Clients within the Lockton Northeast series Construction platform under the general guidance of the Construction Unit Manager, Account Executive and/or Senior Client Manager.  Overall responsibilities include marketing/placement/servicing of select lines of insurance and execution of day-to-day administrative and service needs.  The Associate must be familiar with Lockton Northeast resources, policies & procedures and ensure overall compliance.  The Client Manager will be a participant in the Lockton Northeast Career Advancement Program which is designed to provide technical and practical training supporting continued career progression.  A high performing and successful Client Manager will deliver transactional excellence and provide great customer service. 

Core Responsibilities

  • Supports Unit Manager, Account Executive or Senior Client Manager on complex Lockton Northeast Construction clients
  • Owns the service delivery and renewal process on a designated book of business including but not limited to marketing, placement and overall service (under the oversight of the Unit Manager, Account Executive or Senior Client Manager)
  • Responds to Client’s inquiries, maintains documentation of communications, existing issues, and issue resolutions
  • Provides Client service aligned with Lockton Northeast processes and protocols and our overall Client Engagement strategy 
  • Supports implementation of new lines of coverage by setting up account, collecting needed documentation, and reviewing program details with Client and Insurer. Engages senior level resources to support resolution where needed
  • Gathers and compiles exposure information from the Client
  • Requests and collects quotes (new and renewal) from carriers.  Prepares coverage and financial analysis to compare/review quotations.  Has the ability to interpret and outline key coverage and financial terms
  • Audits quotes, binders, and endorsements and makes requests for changes as needed
  • Processes audits and creates audit analysis for Client
  • Client Manager is able to lead meetings with client independently by delivering content in a clear and concise manner. A Client Manager is prepared, has thought through the obstacles and issues, has consulted with underwriter prior and has brought Unit Manager, Account Executive or Senior Client Manager up to speed on key issues prior; is able to deliver solutions for identified problems or issues
  • Receives policy, then updates and completes policy check to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Updates specifications, application, and summary information to reflect changes during the year
  • Builds coverage specifications independently based on their assessment of client coverage needs 
  • Informs Client of any and all changes that may affect insurance premiums or coverage
  • Gathers and compiles information for new business opportunities and generates materials for Client presentations and meetings
  • Creates and sends compliance communications as needed
  • Leverages analytics to support program design, negotiation and Client decision making
  • Works with TSA to issue and process Invoices, Certificates of Insurance and Auto ID Cards
  • Conducts complex contract review
  • Resolves accounting issues
  • Engages in and participates in special projects to support Northeast strategic priorities
  • Understands and leverages Lockton resources at the center of the company
  • Researches industry trends and governmental regulations
  • Performs other responsibilities and duties as needed 
Qualification Icon

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related program preferred or equivalent education and/or experience required
  • A minimum of four years of commercial Property and Casualty insurance experience and/or insurance broking/consulting experience required
  • Ability to efficiently organize work and manage time in order to meet deadlines
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to comply with all company policies and procedures, proactively protecting confidentiality of client and company information 
  • Willingness and ability to work outside of normal business hours and travel as needed
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Legally able to work in the United States

  • The intellectual curiosity and quantitative mindset to leverage analytics to inform strategy and assist our clients in making decisions
  • The initiative to actively participate in the Career Advancement Program and to pursue technical excellence through professional designations, industry workshops etc. 
  • An ability to develop underwriter relationships with key insurers
  • The desire to mentor and develop junior Associates, including Interns, Analysts and Senior Analysts

Celebrating Black Hi...
As we close out Black History Month 2025, we take a moment to reflect on the vibrant celebrations and meaningful engagements that highlighted the rich history and invaluable contributions of the Black community that we all share, both at Lockton and beyond. This month has been a testament to our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and a celebration of the diverse perspectives that our Associates and Producers bring to our business every day. In the Midwest, we embraced the spirit of Black History Month with engaging trivia sessions that not only educated but also rewarded participants with prizes from Black-owned businesses. Our happy hour events provided a platform to recognize the outstanding contributions of our Black Associate Resource Group. Our West region hosted a variety of events that brought our Associates together in celebration and learning. Denver organized both a breakfast and happy hour event, complete with raffle prizes supporting local Black-owned businesses. San Francisco's visit to the Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD) and Black History Month trivia/happy hour offered a blend of cultural enrichment and fun. In Seattle, we enjoyed a soul food lunch while learning about the remarkable inventions from Black Americans, highlighting the ingenuity and creativity that has shaped our world. The Northeast and Southeast led a benefits education event, empowering our Associates to better understand and utilize their Lockton benefits. This initiative underscored our commitment to supporting the wellbeing and professional growth of our team members. The Southeast hosted a happy hour where they highlighted Black-owned wineries and distilleries, including Kumusha, Viarae, House of Brown, Chaos Theory, Seven Daughters, Teremana Tequila, Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey, Mocktail Club and Theopolis Vineyards. Associates had a great time learning about each company and trying new beverages. In Texas, Houston enjoyed a delightful lunch at Lucille's and a tour of the Houston Museum of African American Culture, immersing themselves in the rich cultural heritage of the Black community. Meanwhile, Dallas and Plano hosted trivia and lunch events, creating opportunities for learning and connection. Black History Month 2025 has been a powerful reminder of the strength that comes from embracing diversity and fostering an inclusive environment. As we move forward, we remain committed to celebrating and uplifting the voices and contributions of the Black community, not just during Black History Month but every month of the year.

While they focus on bringing designs to life, Leanna works to grow the business and attract new clients. This allows her to build something that reflects her creativity in different ways! Matt Chastain has called Lockton home since he began his career as an entry-level Benefits Analyst 10 years ago. He is now a Unit Manager in the St. Louis office. Matt attributes his growth over the last 10 years to strong mentors and leadership. “Leadership within our Series has always conveyed confidence, even as I developed mine. I’ve viewed my mistakes as learning opportunities and have become progressively more effective with each speedbump.”  Reflecting on his career, Matt highlights how Lockton’s culture fosters personal and professional development. He credits mentors like Jane Schmittgens, Tom Mitchell, and Sean Donlin for guiding him through pivotal moments and offering constructive feedback. “Lockton’s relationship culture creates an environment where mentors organically develop around us. It’s a very supportive environment for building a rewarding career,” he shared.  Matt has embraced the freedom to shape his team and its identity in his current role as Unit Manager. His vision is to create a supportive micro-environment that thrives on collaboration and drives new business. “That freedom to build our own brand continues to create excitement within the team, as well as opportunity and a tight-knit culture,” Matt explained.  Matt uses the words entrepreneurial and relationship-centric to describe Lockton’s culture. From relationships with our clients, to relationships with colleagues, all are important to our culture. “At Lockton I’ve felt emboldened to think outside the box in developing new strategies and efficiencies.”  A pivotal moment in Matt’s career came 2 years ago when he moved into the Account Executive role. “I immediately felt inspired to think boldly and creatively to produce positive outcomes for my clients. I enjoyed creating strong relationships with my clients and earning their trust.”  Over the years, Matt’s journey at Lockton has been shaped by the company’s unique environment, a blend of entrepreneurial spirit and relationship-driven values.  His experience is a testament to Lockton's opportunities for growth and success.
