Your Responsibilities
As a member of Lockton’s dynamic Tax Team, this associate will play an integral role in Lockton’s US tax reporting and compliance operations, including maintaining tax records and preparing tax returns, related schedules, and related reports for various tax types including but not limited to income, withholding, composite, property, and other transactional taxes.
This associate will support the quarterly taxable income projections and forecasts as well as support the team in tax planning strategies. The associate will work closely with our outside compliance partners to ensure timely and accurate preparation of relevant US tax forms.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and review tax workpapers and related filings to support the annual income tax filings for federal income tax purposes such as Forms 1065, 8858, 8865 and 5471.
• Review of tax documents and forms prepared by outside tax advisors
• Manage data collection process with Lockton’s accounting and finance teams and identify and implement process improvements.
• Prepare other miscellaneous tax filings.
• Research relevant tax issues, present findings to team.
• Engage with projects related to management and operational financial statement reporting.
• Respond to federal, state and local tax audits and inquiries related to tax filings
• Collaborate with team in tax planning strategies including preparation and filing of tax election forms.
• Special projects and other duties assigned.
• Take part in internal and external training and learning opportunities to further their professional development.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting and good knowledge of accounting principles with a Master of Taxation and CPA preferred.
• 2-3 full years of federal income tax reporting and compliance experience in a multi-national work environment dealing with accounting and general taxation matters, which may be in industry, public accounting, or similar surroundings.
• Preference for experience with flow-through entities such as S Corps and partnerships and US international tax forms (Forms 8858, 8865, 5471 etc).
• Excellent computer skills including experience with MS Office software and data collection tools, Advanced Excel skills a must; prior experience with ONESOURCE Dataflow a significant advantage.
• Experience with Microsoft Power tools is a plus
• Strong project management and time management skills
• Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment across varying functions.
