Your Responsibilities

The Account Executive is the leader of multi-level risk management team responsible for translating risk and loss profiles into solutions which include program design and pre and post loss risk strategies. They build long term trusted advisor relationships with clients, producers, and associates supporting business growth. The Account Executive drives accountability for execution of account strategies, by delegating and empowering account managers and account analysts supporting client team.  The Account Executive always adheres to Lockton cultural values, and treats fellow associates, clients, and vendors with dignity and respect.

Description:

  • Strategic advisor for client. Responsible for overall client satisfaction, client relationship and client retention.   Engages and resolves highly escalated client service matters and strategic initiatives 
  • Drives strategy planning process with client.  Evaluate exposure changes, business changes, client goals and financial health of client to make recommendations for pre-renewal and stewardship planning. It has a sound understanding of market innovation and disruptors and the impact it could have on a client.
  • Communications with client and markets related to matters of strategic significance.  Leads complex negotiations with carrier markets.
  • Monitors account expenses and ensure that billing and invoicing is up to date.  Is also responsible for the overall profitability of the account and working with the producer on a mutually agreeable client engagement.
  • In collaboration with client, defines strategic goals and is accountable for the execution of a successful marketing.  Reviews final quotes and recommendations, conducts final negotiations with carriers (if necessary), presents recommendation to the clients, and documents client acceptance of renewal strategy.  Resolves escalated renewal issues. 
  • Support new carrier relationships and act as an escalation point for issues during renewal implementation 
  • Direct client onboarding activities following standard process and checklists including BOR, Fee agreements, documenting client expectations, and systems and file documentation
  • Establish key reporting metrics for each client and coordinate with client service team to deliver reporting.  Provide a summary overview to client with key highlights to reporting. 
  • Customer Focus Ensuring that the (internal or external) customer’s perspective is a driving force behind strategic priorities, business decisions, organizational processes, and individual activities; crafting and implementing service practices that meet customers’ and own organization’s needs; promoting and operationalizing customer service as a value. Actions: Seeks to understand customers, identifies customer service issues, drives customer-focused practices, assures customer satisfaction. 
  • Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills Having achieved a satisfactory level of technical, functional, and/or professional skill or knowledge in position-related areas; keeping up with current developments and trends in areas of expertise; leveraging expert knowledge to accomplish results. Actions:  Understands technical terminology and developments, knows how to apply a technical skill or procedure, knows when to apply a technical skill or procedure, performs complex tasks in areas of expertise. 
  • Communication Conveying information and ideas clearly and concisely to individuals or groups in an engaging manner that helps them understand and retain the message, listening actively to others. Actions: Organizes communication, maintains attention, adjusts to the listener, ensures understanding, listens actively, conveys a professional presence. 
  • Business Acumen Using one’s knowledge of economic, financial, market, and industry trends to understand and improve individual, work group, and/or organizational results, using one’s understanding of major business functions, industry trends, and own organization’s position to contribute to effective business strategies and/or tactics.  Actions: Analyzes, integrates, understands business functions, understands the industry, leverages own understanding. 
  • Execution Ensuring others contribute to organization strategies by focusing them on the most critical priorities, measuring progress, and ensuring accountability against those metrics. Actions: Maintains focus, measures progress and outcome, ensures accountability
  • Planning and Organizing Establishing an action plan for self and others to complete work efficiently and on time by setting priorities, establishing timelines, and leveraging resources. Qualification Icon

Qualifications

  • 8-10 years’ experience in client services for property and casualty including servicing and placement. 
  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related program or equivalent education and/or experience in the insurance industry
  • Current Property and Casualty insurance license or the ability to obtain immediately
  • Advanced knowledge Intermediate understanding of P&C coverage lines 
  • Advanced knowledge of risk financing strategies and products available to clients (e.g., guarantee cost, loss sensitive, collateral). Ability to address financial and collateral considerations with the markets on behalf of the client. 
  • Excellent relationships with insurance/carrier markets in assigned areas, or ability to develop the same immediately
  • Intermediate/advanced negotiation skills related to marketing and placement of insurance products.  Understands how to position risks to underwriters to support the best possible outcomes. 
  • A strong working knowledge of the changing vendor landscape including new entrants into the marketplace and cutting-edge products and solutions
  • Expert knowledge of federal and state legislation and legal issues related to the insurance industry
  • Ability to compile, analyze, and interpret complex financial information and data to facilitate decision making and translate to client to best meet strategic objectives. 
  • Full proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Executive presence and presentation skills, ability to influence at executive levels

My career journey has taken a few turns I’m truly proud of. I started out in the hospitality industry, working my way through undergrad by waiting tables—a crash course in staying calm under pressure, anticipating needs, and building real connections with people. After graduating, I transitioned into teaching, where a lot of those same skills carried over: reading the room, building relationships, and adapting on the fly. I joined Lockton in the summer of 2023 as an Assistant Account Manager, and honestly, I could tell from day one that this place was different. The culture, the collaboration, and the people here immediately stood out. Since joining, I’ve been able to grow a ton—stepping up to help mentor our summer interns, sharing best practices to help onboard new hires, and continuing to develop in my role. Today, I work closely with several Account Managers and Account Executives to help deliver the top-tier service that Lockton is known for. It’s been an incredible experience so far, and I’m excited to continue learning and growing with a company that truly invests in its people. How has your experience working in education shaped the way you approach your work today? My experience in education shaped the way I approach just about everything I do today. Teaching taught me how to stay calm under pressure, how to communicate clearly even when the situation is complex, and how to anticipate needs before they’re even spoken. It also gave me a deep appreciation for building strong relationships—whether it’s with clients, teammates, or new hires. The classroom taught me to break things down into manageable steps, stay adaptable, and always keep learning. Those same skills have been invaluable in my role now. I’m proud to bring that mindset with me every day, and I’m constantly looking for ways to keep growing and supporting the people around me. What sets Lockton apart from other organizations you’ve been a part of? What sets Lockton apart for me is the people. From the first day, it’s clear that collaboration, mentorship, and genuine support aren’t just buzzwords here—they’re part of the everyday experience. People go out of their way to help each other succeed, leadership really invests in your growth, and everyone is encouraged to grow, ask questions, and bring new ideas to the table. At other places, it sometimes felt like success was a solo journey. Here, there’s a true team mentality—people invest in you, and you’re encouraged to invest back into others. What has been your “Lockton Moment” — a time when you knew Lockton was the right place for you? My "Lockton Moment" came during my mid-year review. In past roles, speaking up about my goals often felt risky—like wanting more might be seen as overstepping, or that I was being pushy, impatient, or ungrateful. So, when it came time for my review, I was hesitant to advocate for myself as I debated whether it was ‘too much’ to express my desires. But something about the culture at Lockton felt different, so I took a deep breath and shared that I was passionate about growing into an Account Manager role. And what happened next caught me by surprise in the best way. Instead of being met with criticism or pushback, my boss listened—truly listened—and immediately supported my vision for growth. Together, we mapped out a plan for how I could get there. It was one of the first times in my career I truly felt seen, valued, and encouraged not just for who I was, but for who I wanted to become. Blake, a Producer based in Fort Worth, Texas, leads Lockton's Rail Advisory Group, specializing in crafting complex risk management solutions for the rail industry. What makes his story unique is not just the award, but the path that led him here. "What initially drew me to Lockton was the distinct contrast it presented to my previous experiences," Blake explains. Unlike traditional corporate environments, Lockton offered something different: a well-established firm with a flat hierarchy that empowers its professionals to truly own their work. Though Elizabeth Stookey’s career path was anything but traditional, it ultimately led her to a role where her diverse experience makes a lasting impact. With a background in journalism and nearly 16 years in higher education, she built a career centered around communication, engagement, and relationship-building. In 2021, inspired by a desire for change and encouragement from her husband, she pivoted into the insurance industry. Just a year later, she joined Lockton as an account manager on the voluntary benefits team. Today, alongside her team of four, she helps support more than 250 clients across seven offices, bringing energy, expertise, and a fresh perspective to every partnership. “It’s been an exciting journey, and I’m grateful for the path that brought me here!” How has your experience working in education shaped the way you approach your work today? My experience in education, particularly in alumni relations and advancement, deeply shaped the way I approach my work today. In higher ed, everything is centered around building meaningful relationships, communicating effectively with diverse audiences, and delivering value through personalized engagement. I learned how to actively listen, think strategically, and manage multiple stakeholders with differing priorities—all skills that translate directly to my work in voluntary benefits.
