Your Responsibilities
• Configure, troubleshoot, and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers) at all levels of the network hierarchy (access (office and remote), distribution, core, DMZ, data center, etc.).
• Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations.
• Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
• Secures network system by establishing and enforcing policies and defining and monitoring access.
• Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues.
• Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
• Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
• IP address auditing.
• Collaborates with network architects on network optimization.
Qualifications
• Proven hands-on network engineering experience. Ability to look at our configurations and be able to quickly provide a high-level explanation of what the configurations are doing.
• Solid understanding of the OSI and TCP/IP model and ability to troubleshoot problems (e.g., what is a TCP RST and why would it be a problem?). Ability to walk through a layer 4 conversation within a packet capture.
• Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS, OMP, GRE).
• Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools including; Solarwinds Orion, Wireshark, PingPlotter, Netflow, Nmap, ThousandEyes, etc.
• In-depth understanding and practical knowledge of network topologies and types of networks (e.g., WAN, LAN, Datacenter, SDWAN overlay, underlay, DMZ, public, private, on-prem, cloud, etc.)
• Ability to analyze and evaluate networks, identify issues, and provide solutions to ensure networks are operating efficiently.
• Ability to design, implement and troubleshoot enterprise Aruba wireless architecture and multi-vendor security infrastructure.
• Time management
• Ability to manage several projects simultaneously from design to implementation
• Ability to communicate technical information to other technical team members but also to coworkers in other departments who may not have knowledge of networking technical terminology
• 5+ years of network engineering experience minimum, 10+ years preferred.
Vendor-specific certifications preferred: Certifications from network equipment vendors such as Cisco (e.g., CCNA, CCNP), Palo Alto Networks (e.g., PCNSA, PCNSE) and Aruba would be preferred.
